OUR HERD

The Wisdom of the Herd

Together, these horses create a powerful environment where participants can learn about communication, boundaries, trust, leadership, and connection.

Each horse brings a unique perspective and teaches different lessons.

At HERD Foundation, the horses are not just part of the program.

They are part of the HERD.

And through their presence, patience, and wisdom, they help guide the journey of every person who comes to the farm.

Stitch

Stitch carries a powerful presence within the herd. Many veterans naturally connect with him because he invites honesty and awareness. Stitch responds clearly to body language and intention, reminding participants that communication is not only about words—it is about presence, clarity, and trust.

Working with Stitch often encourages people to slow down, become more aware of themselves, and communicate with confidence.

Aggie

Aggie is a 20-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare whose life story reflects resilience, grace, and adaptability. For many years, she enjoyed a successful career as a Hunter, known for her athleticism, elegance, and steady temperament in the show ring.

After an injury that resulted in the loss of one eye, Aggie transitioned into a new chapter of her life. Rather than stepping away from meaningful work, she found a renewed purpose in equine-assisted therapy. Her calm presence, patience, and ability to connect with people make her a natural partner for therapeutic work.

Now, Aggie spends her days offering comfort and healing to individuals in equine therapy sessions. She brings forward the wisdom of her years, her gentle nature, and her quiet strength, inspiring those who work with her to embrace resilience and adaptability in their own lives.

Aggie brings a calm and grounding energy to the herd. She offers participants a sense of steadiness and patience, helping people feel comfortable as they begin their connection with the horses.

Aggie reminds us that trust is built slowly and that quiet strength can create a powerful sense of safety.

Merlin

Merlin is curious and observant. He often encourages participants to stay present and aware of their surroundings. His thoughtful nature invites people to pay attention to their body language, their energy, and how they approach the horses.

Merlin teaches the importance of awareness and thoughtful communication.

Sammy - Mini Horse

Sammy may be small in size, but his presence within the herd is incredibly powerful.

Sammy is always watching. He is attentive, aware, and constantly assessing the environment around him.

He seems to ask important questions:

Are you listening? Are you paying attention?

Are you aware?

Sammy teaches valuable lessons about leadership, boundaries, and the importance of the powerful pause—the moment when we stop, observe, and truly listen.

He is also a master of strategy. Sammy carefully considers his surroundings and often demonstrates how thoughtful leadership can guide the herd.

And perhaps most importantly, Sammy reminds us about the importance of play.

When safety and comfort are present, curiosity and play naturally follow. Sammy often brings joy, lightness, and connection to the herd.

Cinnamon - Mini Horse

Cinnamon came to the farm in the Summer of 2021. Cinnamon is a pro carriage horse and all-around sweetheart.

She plays an imperative role in helping individuals achieve self-development.

Cinnamon brings warmth and gentleness to the herd. Her approachable nature helps participants feel comfortable, especially those who may be meeting horses for the first time.

Cinnamon encourages patience, kindness, and trust while helping people build confidence around the horses.

Princess

Born on February 4, 2013, Princess began her career on the racetrack before retiring in 2017. She joined our farm in 2020 after meeting her forever owner.

She quickly made her mark on our program with her playful, sassy personality. Whether riding, doing groundwork, or connecting in individual and family sessions, Princess brings energy and charm to everything she does.

Princess carries a quiet dignity and strength within the herd. She reminds participants about presence and awareness while offering a calm and steady connection.

Her leadership helps maintain balance within the herd and provides an example of how confidence and calmness can work together.

At HERD Foundation, each horse plays an important role in the work we do. Horses are incredibly aware of their environment and of the people around them. Their presence, personalities, and natural instincts help guide many of the lessons participants experience on the farm.

Every member of the herd offers something unique.
